About OKtoBuy

OKtoBuy checks the earnings of a small business you're thinking of buying. It reads the seller's P&L, tax returns and bank statements and shows you what the profit is really made of. It does not value businesses, and it never will.

Why it exists

Most small business deals are priced as a multiple of the seller's discretionary earnings, and most of the arguments in a deal are about what belongs in that number. Sellers and brokers add back costs they say the next owner won't have. Some of those add-backs are real. Some are hopeful. A few are fiction. Buyers usually find out which is which late, after they've paid for lawyers, or when the lender's underwriter throws half of them out.

OKtoBuy moves that check to the start. You get a readout that ties every number to the page it came from, rates each add-back, compares deposits in the bank with reported sales, and gives you the questions to ask. Then you, your CPA and your lender take it from there.

Why we don't value businesses

OKtoBuy is part of Stargo, Inc. A sister business may prepare valuations for lenders. To keep that work independent, OKtoBuy never gives a value, a price range or an opinion on whether an asking price is fair. Our guides explain how valuation works in general; the product only checks earnings.

Jason Lee, Founder & CEO

Jason is a Wharton graduate who began his career in investment banking at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, working on capital markets and corporate finance. At East Pacific Capital he evaluated and valued private investments, and he served as Financial Controller and CFO at several publicly listed companies.

He then built and ran his own companies, including BintanGO and CoHive, raising more than $40M from seed to Series B. He has faced the same problems buyers face: seller numbers that don't match the bank statements, add-backs that don't hold up, and issues that surface only weeks into a deal, after the money has been spent. He started OKtoBuy so buyers get accurate, checked numbers early. That means a faster decision, fewer surprises, and a cleaner file to take to the lender.

How readouts work

AI readouts are marked as unreviewed drafts, with every number linked to its source page. Where available, you can add an optional human review by a finance professional, and every readout says plainly whether a person has reviewed it. Pricing is shared before you send any documents.
