Check a deal's numbers

Pay, upload the seller's documents, and get a report checked by a person. Bank deposits checked against reported revenue are included in the $99 Deal Check, not an upsell.

Choose your check

A value estimate applies published market multiples for your industry to the earnings we've checked. It's an estimate to help you judge the asking price, not an appraisal or certified valuation. Available for: see pricing.

Secure payment by card. After payment you get a private upload link, also emailed. By continuing you agree to the terms and privacy policy.

What you'll upload

The upload page has this checklist and ticks items off as your files are read. It tells you straight away if anything is missing or unreadable, and you can add more before you submit.

Needed for the check

  1. Business tax returns for the last 3 years (1120-S, 1065, 1120, or Schedule C)
  2. Profit and loss statements for the last 3 years plus year-to-date
  3. Business bank statements for the last 12 months, every business account (24 months preferred)
  4. The seller's or broker's add-back/SDE schedule, or the listing/CIM

Recommended (each improves the check)

Balance sheets, merchant/card processor statements, sales tax returns, payroll reports (941s or payroll summaries), POS or sales system reports, a debt schedule, the lease, top customers by revenue, AR/AP aging, and an inventory list.

What the report covers

Every figure is copied from your files and links back to where it came from. Anything calculated is calculated by code. The Deal Check is not a valuation or appraisal. Want to try the numbers yourself first? Use the free SDE calculator. See pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I pay before uploading?

So the seller's documents only go to us once you've decided to go ahead, and so a person can be lined up to check your report. Straight after payment you get a private upload link (also emailed). If the files can't be read, or the documents we need never arrive within 7 days, we offer a refund.

When does the 24-hour clock start?

When you click Submit for review on the upload page, not when you pay. The upload page tells you straight away what's missing or unreadable, so you can chase the seller first.

Is this a valuation?

The Deal Check isn't. It's an earnings check: whether the seller's numbers hold up against the tax returns and the bank. If you want a number to judge the asking price against, add the separate Value estimate. Neither is an appraisal or a certified valuation.

Who sees the documents?

Our automated checks and the person who checks your report. We don't share documents with brokers, lenders or sellers. Uploaded files are deleted 30 days after your final report. We keep anonymised figures (no names, tax IDs or account numbers) to improve our checks, unless you untick the box on the upload page.
